As part of The Rising Church we want to inform you that someone within our congregation has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual attended our in-person service on Sunday July 5th, wore a mask and practiced social distancing. At the time they did not know they were positive, having gone through testing as a work requirement since a colleague had previously tested positive. They had no symptoms as of Sunday. They are self-quarantining and keeping the church leadership up to date on their well-being. We are asking everyone who attended our in-person service on July 5th to keep us up to date on the status of their health as well.

We are being extra cautious as a result and will be providing an online only worship experience this Sunday, July 12th. We will monitor this closely and re-visit what service will look like on July 19th. We'll send a follow-up communication early in the week.

Sunday July 12, 2020 worship service is ONLINE ONLY at 10am

Thank you for your grace and understanding as we all walk out this time in life carefully, cautiously and diligently. Please join us in prayer for this Rising family member that they will recover quickly!

Here are some COVID-19 reminders and action steps that we are taking at The Rising Church:

    • We ask everyone to stay home if they are not feeling well or have any COVID symptoms; fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches and chills, or decreased sense of smell or taste. If you have any of these symptoms we highly recommend you go and get tested for COVID
    • We have been sanitizing and cleaning the building before and after every worship service and will continue to do so
    • We have recommended mask wearing and with the Governor’s latest mandate are asking everyone to wear one if they are planning on attending our in-person worship service as they are now required in Salt Lake County. Once seated you may remove your mask for the duration of our service but re-mask to exit the church.
    • We have set up the worship space with proper social distancing and request you sit at least 3 chairs away from another family to comply with the 6-foot social distancing guidelines
    • We are asking people to enter into the building promptly and go directly to their seats and wait for service to begin. Refrain from gathering and chatting with others before or after service. After service we kindly request you re-mask and promptly exit the building to your cars and not gather to chat either in the building or in the parking lot unless you maintain 6-foot social distancing and keep your masks on
    • Our Café and Children's Ministry remain closed until we move to the Green Phase of re-entry
    • We ask that you are symptom free for at least 72 hours before attending any in-person Bible Study or Worship Service as well as remaining home if tested until you receive a negative result.

    COVID-19 UPDATE:

The Leadership Team has been closely monitoring the State Covid-19 guidelines and as of May 1st we have begun moving from the high risk category (red) to the moderate risk category (orange). Specifically, churches were given the freedom to begin meeting on May 6th as long as all social distancing practices are followed. We began planning and discussing how this would look for us here at The Rising, and the Leadership Team met and finalized our Re-entry Plan on Tuesday, May 12th.

Here is the current Re-Entry Plan for The Rising Church for the Moderate Risk Phase:

    • Sunday Service in the building (May 17th at 10am)
    • If you are not comfortable being physically present in the building we will continue to live stream our service on both Facebook and YouTube and hope to see you there.
    • There will be no Kids Ministry during this phase of reopening.
    • The Info Desk will be temporarily relocated to the Kid’s Ministry Check In area.
    • There will be no cafe/coffee during this phase of reopening.
    • Visiting in the lobby/cafe will not be allowed because of the requirement to maintain 6 feet physical distancing.
    • We will offer a digital bulletin via E-mail, Social Media, our website & App
    • There will be no greeting time during the service
    • There will be no prayer ministry at the end of service, you can send any and all praises and prayer requests to Prayer@TheRisingUtah.com and Pastor, Governing Board, Staff and Prayer Team will be happy to pray with you!
    • After the service is over we will dismiss by rows for people to exit the building.
    • If you are willing to help Harley and serve on the Cleaning Team knowing the increased measure to keep our facility in tip top shape please let us know by e-mailing us at info@TheRisingUtah.com

If you have any questions or comments do not hesitate to e-mail us at info@therisingutah.com or call the church office at (801) 849-1285. Thanks for being patient and prayerful as we walk this out week to week! God is For Us!

Pastor Josh, The Governing Board, Staff and Ministry Team

  • THURSDAY APRIL 30, 2020

It has been nearly a month since our last written update. Since we were operating under the State instituted mandate, “Stay Home, Stay Safe” and nothing had changed since late March, there wasn’t really anything to report or update you about. But that is all about to change!

With the pending State-wide move from red (high) to orange (moderate) on Friday May 1st, we felt it was a good time to share the following:

    • We are watching all corona virus/COVID-19 related updates closely (https://coronavirus.utah.gov), continually following the health directives given by the Governor and State.
    • Under the orange code, gatherings of over 20 people are not allowed. Therefore, it will still be awhile before resuming our in-person worship services on Sunday mornings.
    • We will be encouraging small groups and our EPIC Youth Ministry to begin gathering soon at the church, in homes and outside when possible.
    • We will continue keeping our facility clean and sanitary.
    • We will encourage the wearing of face masks when gathering outside of family units in smaller groups.
    • We will ask people to practice touch-less greetings and social distancing.
    • We have installed hand sanitizing stations in the church building.

Our staff and leadership teams are developing a plan for the coming weeks. We kindly ask for your flexibility, patience, and prayers as we continue to navigate in this strange and uncharted season.

  • MONDAY MARCH 30, 2020

We are in a fluid situation with daily updates regarding the Coronavirus/COVID-19 coming from the CDC and Utah Department of Health and mandates around gatherings from local, state and federal authorities. Our intention is to comply with all aspects while continuing "business as usual" as much as possible.

    See Governor Herbert's
"Stay Safe, Stay Home" Directive for the state of Utah HERE which is in effect through April 13th.

Currently, we are live-streaming our service on Facebook and YouTube at 10:00am Sunday mornings. All Midweek studies on Wednesday evenings for both Adults and EPIC Youth have been moved online as well (see below).

As things change, our most immediate forms of communication will be through this email newsletter list as well as Facebook (and Instagram) posts. Meanwhile if you have questions, you can call the office at 801-849-1285 or email

  • MONDAY MARCH 16, 2020 - A LETTER FROM PASTOR JOSH

It seems like everything has changed in the last few days! Church and ministry will look different over the coming weeks. We are currently working on reinventing how we will continue to do ministry in the days and weeks ahead.

With everything being flipped upside down here are 4 important things we need everyone to know…

SUNDAY SERVICES WILL BE ONLINE. Every Sunday at 10:15am-ish we will be live streaming our church service via Facebook Live. Visit our Facebook page in order to join the livestream. We encourage you to participate as families in your homes. Comment and let us know that you are participating. Last Sunday we posted our sermon on Facebook Live and as of today we have had 670 views and a reach of almost 1,000! We have the potential to reach a lot of people! Let’s continue to lean in, not out. Even consider inviting your friends, co-workers, neighbors and family to watch our Facebook Live feed and follow up with them seeing if they enjoyed it, or have any questions. The ‘how’ may change but the ‘why’ does not! People still need Jesus and God is in control!

MIDWEEK. We will host CORE52 and EPIC Youth Studies via Zoom video conference. Both will be Wednesday Nights from 7-8pm. We will post links on our Facebook pages each week as well as in our weekly e-mail newsletter.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS. Many of us will experience personal financial impact as a result of this crisis. This is a time for us to be a family and help one another. This crisis will have a financial impact on The Rising. If you are able, we ask that you continue to give during this time. You can give through our website, church app, your financial institution via bill pay, and you can also give through good old-fashioned checks by mailing to the church:
         The Rising Church
         10702 South 300 West
         South Jordan, UT 84095

PRAYER FOCUS. We need to be people of prayer during this time. This week we are specifically asking you to pray for our teachers and medical professionals. We have many teachers in our church community who are making plans this week for engaging their students. We have many health care professionals who are on the front line of this pandemic and will be serving our community while putting themselves at risk. Pray for God to give them creative strategies and grant them peace in the midst of chaos. Continue to send prayer requests to us via
Prayer@TheRisingUtah.com. We count it a privilege to pray with and for you!
